Bence Kollányi has won an NKKP Starting Grant for exploring the role of AI in collecting open-ended survey questions. The research project aims to analyse existing survey data to understand the sociodemographic factors influencing the quality of open-ended responses. Using cutting-edge large language models, the project will generate tailored follow-up questions based on what respondents say. It will also assess mode effects in mobile and web-based surveys and ultimately develop an experimental “social science chat” tool designed to boost data quality and support richer insights.
