We are pleased to announce that László Czaller has been awarded the Bolyai Scholarship 2026 for his research project entitled “The Impact of the Hungarian Village Programme on Demographic Processes.”

The project investigates the spatial distribution of development grants allocated under the Hungarian Village Programme across different intervention areas and evaluates their short-term effects on demographic processes in the years following the programme’s launch. Since only settlements with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants were eligible for support, the programme provides a unique opportunity to identify causal impacts through a quasi-experimental research design based on the population threshold.
