János Török (Budapest University of Technology and Economics): Variability hypothesis in the Hungarian society: data and model
Zoom

Abstract | The variability hypothesis states that males have higher variance in traits than women do. The subject is very controversial especially when it comes to models or explanations. In this lecture I show that this variability difference is also present in social traits of humans: Males have more diverse acquaintances than women do. We use a simple model which uses only foval and cyclic closure to give a possible explanation for this observation.
